The heavy metal visionaries known collectively as AVATAR — vocalist Johannes Eckerström , guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström , bassist Henrik Sandelin , and drummer John Alfredsson — have finally released their newest masterpiece, Don't Go in the Forest .
Regarding the album, Eckerström explained: “The secret ingredient is that we still feel like we’re just getting started. Don't Go In The Forest is an album full of things we’ve never done before. These are songs and concepts that we’ve never even come close to touching on until now. The mind is wild, and we get lost in the darkest forests, full of memories and fantasies. Forbidden thoughts that need to be said.”
He added: “It would have been impossible to make this album at any other time than now. This is everything we’ve ever wanted, and I believe you’ll realize it’s everything you’ve ever wanted too.”
Avatar's growth and momentum have only increased in recent years. There's the acclaimed album Dance Devil Dance , released in 2023, which included the band's first #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with the track "The Dirt I'm Buried In." There have also been numerous sold-out shows around the world—and even a fossil named after the band. And the list goes on.
Avatar will be spending the near future (if not forever) on the road, with tours planned for the next two years. The band shows no sign of wanting to take a break from their quest for absolute world domination—much less stop completely.
