Avantasia 's new album already has a name! Scheduled for release in 2022, the project is called A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society . On the official website, Tobias Sammet gave some more details about the album.
Asked by fans if the new album would be a continuation of Moonglow (2019), the musician confirmed. “Yes, in a way, but it’s far from being just more of the same. It’s new, a good mix of fantasy and poetry, but with each song also having autobiographical characteristics. I’m very proud of these lyrics, they mean a lot and despite having a fantastical approach, I reveal a lot about myself,” he said.
Regarding the sound, the new Avantasia album promises to mix "the best of both worlds" from the project and also from Edguy . "It's always difficult to judge your own work when you're still so close to it. Some [tracks] are quite heavy, clearly showing my power metal side, not only as a composer but also as a vocalist," he said.
The mystery surrounding the collaborations for the album continues, but Sammet said that some guests are expected by the public, while others will be a surprise. Avantasia has already confirmed the release of limited edition colored vinyl records and a special book with extras.
