Avantasia , the rock opera of Tobias Sammet , releases its second single “Against The Wind”, from the band's 10th album, Here Be Dragons , which is scheduled for release on February 28, 2025, by Napalm Records.
The band returns with several innovations, including new guest appearances. Even more versatile, with a heavy sound on this new single, which features vocalist Kenny Leckremo from HEAT Bangers Open Air 2025 lineup in São Paulo. The band will perform on Saturday, May 3rd, along with Sabaton , Saxon , and Carro Bomba .
Tobias Sammet: About “Against The Wind”:
Instagram post , Tobias talks about the new song “Against The Wind”: “It’s an energetic and exciting song that contains a lot of what defines Avantasia. What I especially like about this song is the combination of speed and power, along with an inspiring and exciting harmonic and melodic approach. It hits you with pure force, but it also takes you to a better place, gives you strength and encourages you to be true to yourself. Even during headwinds, giving the middle finger to those who want to stop you from being yourself.”
Tobias Sammet continues, “Musically and vocally, it’s quite a challenging song, as it demands all the tools of a power metal singer, but it also has a slight influence from the band Journey at certain moments, which requires a completely different approach to interpreting it.”
Finally, Tobias adds: “That’s why I looked for a vocal partner who had metal skills and a wide range, but who also understood the context of singers like Sam Cooke or Steve Perry . I knew Kenny Leckremo from HEAT could handle it. Without false modesty: I think we sound incredible together here. I love this song!”
It's important to remember that in March 2025, they will begin their monumental Here Be Dragons in Europe. And soon after, they will come to Latin America. In Brazil, they are already confirmed as headliners at the Bangers Open Air 2025 in São Paulo, on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Tickets are on sale at the Clube do Ingresso
