On Tuesday, the 28th, Avantasia officially announced their new studio album. Titled A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society , the album is scheduled for release on October 21st.
The new album is a project that took shape during the pandemic, but Tobias Sammet says the initial ideas emerged between 2018 and 2019. In a social media post, he detailed his deep involvement with all aspects of the new music, including "production, orchestration, keyboards, arrangements and details," and described the album as "the most personal" and "closest to his vision" that he has ever made.
“I’m very proud of the album. It features some of my best songs, some of my most emotional and extreme vocals, some of the strongest guest appearances ever. I couldn’t be happier with the result, and when you hear it, you’ll know why!”.
Tobias has kept the guest appearances on A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society , but he promised that the project will blend "the best of both worlds" from Avantasia and Edguy , even showcasing a power metal side.
A preview of the new album can be found in the latest single, “The Wicked Rule The Night,” featuring Ralf Scheepers . The song was released in May and is the first single from this new era of Avantasia. Check it out:
