Avantasia released this Friday, the 21st, the album A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society , the successor to Moonglow (2019).
The new release marks the ninth studio album from the project conceived by Tobias Sammet . Speaking about the work, he commented: “It’s the best of the old and the new, the best of both worlds without being an intentional leap back to the roots. I just did a lot of things like on previous albums,” said Sammet, who describes the record as “a work of art.”
According to guitarist Sascha Paeth , who was responsible for mastering the album alongside Michael “Miro” Rodenberg, this album is sonically reminiscent of some of Avantasia's earlier works, as well as Edguy .
The new album is a project that took shape during the pandemic, but Tobias Sammet says the initial ideas emerged between 2018 and 2019. In a social media post, he detailed his deep involvement with all aspects of the new music, including "production, orchestration, keyboards, arrangements and details," and described the album as "the most personal" and "closest to his vision" that he has ever made.
“I’m very proud of the album. It features some of my best songs, some of my most emotional and extreme vocals, some of the strongest guest appearances ever. I couldn’t be happier with the result, and when you hear it, you’ll know why!”.
