Australian band announces vinyl record made with members' urine; watch

"Don't use our DNA to commit crimes," the Private Function group revealed.

The Australian punk band Private Function surprised everyone on March 26th by announcing a vinyl record made with the urine of its members.

“Congratulations to the 50 people who ordered the 'Gold' version of our new record. You just bought a record filled with our pee. It turned out to be quite difficult to create the world's first pee record. Due to the irritating amount of experimentation required to make this record work, we don't yet have a physical copy, but here's a video describing its creation. Please don't use our DNA to commit crimes,” the group wrote on Instagram.

In the video, which can be viewed at the end of this article, it is possible to see members of Private Function entering the bathroom and then showing the liquid collected in jars and bottles.

Even without a release date, the vinyl will be part of the limited edition of the new album 370HSSV 0773H (2023), released on March 31st.

This wasn't the first controversy involving the Melbourne band. Their recent album, with its "scratchable" cover and nearly $3,000 prize, conflicted with state laws and wasn't available for sale in South Australia. And the group, of course, didn't remain silent. "To all residents, this first pressing is not available to you because your government is terrible. We're sorry. I hope we can reach some kind of agreement with your government, otherwise we will ensure you receive future editions" (via Tenho Mais Discos Que Amigos! ).
