Audioslave is voted the best supergroup.

34% of respondents chose Audioslave

A supergroup is a band formed by members who are world-famous for other projects. Lately, many of them have been joining forces to create something different. Among so many, we at Wikimetal were curious: What is your favorite supergroup?

34% of responses indicate that Audioslave, the supergroup formed by Chris Cornell, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk, is the best.

Velvet Revolver (Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Dave Kushner and Scott Weiland) and Black Country Communion (Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, Derek Sherinian and Joe Bonamassa) followed with 18% and 11% of the votes, respectively.

Audioslave began its activities in 2001 in Los Angeles, California. At the time, Chris Cornell participated in a rehearsal with the members of Rage Against The Machine after vocalist Zack De La Rocha left the band. When Cornell appeared, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk immediately decided to work with the musician.

The band's sound is inspired by 70s Hard Rock and 90s Alternative Rock, and they have amassed numerous achievements throughout their career. With three Grammy Award nominations and being the first American band to perform an open-air concert in Cuba, Audioslave is one of the most celebrated bands.

With three studio albums recorded, the band came to an end in 2007 due to artistic differences, with Chris Cornell announcing his departure. From there, Rage Against the Machine returned to activity, and Cornell released "You Know My Name," the theme song for 007: Casino Royale , which led to his second solo album, Carry On .

Ten years after their split, the quartet returned to the stage at an event protesting the inauguration of US President Donald Trump. Four months later, Chris Cornell passed away , but his legacy lives on forever.
