Atreyu returned this Friday, the 30th, with "Ego Death ," an intense and cathartic track that explores the idea of abandoning who you were to become who you are destined to be. The song is accompanied by a music video.
Supported by crushing riffs, a pulsating groove, and a great melodic chorus, the song balances the band's heavier instincts with one of their most emotional moments to date. As the group defines it, "Sometimes a part of you needs to die for you to truly live. 'Ego Death' is peace.".
In addition to the release of “Ego Death”, the band recently announced a spring tour as the opening act for Sevendust . The shows begin on April 20th in Indianapolis, Indiana, and conclude on May 20th in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Southern California band recently concluded a successful co-headlining tour in the United States, playing at major festivals such as Download, Hellfest, Welcome to Rockville , and Inkcarceration .
Since its formation at the turn of the millennium, Atreyu has progressed far beyond its DIY roots. In addition to earning multiple RIAA gold records, it has debuted in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and featured on soundtracks for widely acclaimed films and video games.
