The night in São Paulo was set ablaze by Atreyu in their highly anticipated Brazilian debut. The Californian band, which blends metalcore with melodic elements, delivered a memorable performance at Carioca Club on the 20th. With contagious energy and special moments that brought fans even closer to the band, the performance reaffirmed why Atreyu remains one of the most relevant names in metalcore.
The band's current lineup features Brandon Saller (vocals), Dan Jacobs (lead guitar), Travis Miguel (rhythm guitar), Porter McKnight (bass), and Kyle Rosa (drums). The synergy between the musicians was evident from the opening track, "Drowning," an intense song that immediately had the audience singing along. Then, "Becoming the Bull" further heightened the excitement, its powerful chorus echoing through the Carioca Club.
Atreyu's debut show with thank yous in Portuguese.
One of the most nostalgic moments came with “Right Side of the Bed,” a classic from the album The Curse (2004), which took fans back in time. Before “Save Us,” Travis went to the microphone to thank the fans for their affection and to say that it was the band's first time in Brazil. The detail was that he spoke entirely in Portuguese, which drove the fans wild. The track featured powerful riffs, melody, and a catchy groove that kept everyone moving, setting the stage for “The Time Is Now,” in which Brandon came down from the stage to sing in the middle of the audience, creating a special connection with the fans.
“When Two Are One” and “(I)” kept the energy high, with all the elements that made Atreyu famous. The fans were so ecstatic that vocalist Brandon made a point of emphasizing that this was the best show of the tour.
Instrument swap demonstrates versatility.
The band also explored their versatility by bringing the brutality of “Bleeding Mascara” with an unusual configuration: Porter took over vocals, Brandon returned to the drums, and Kyle played bass. The change of roles brought a new perspective to the music and showcased the multifaceted skill of the members. On the dance floor, a great mosh pit formed to reciprocate the moment. It was no different in “Ex's and Oh's” and “Gone,” which followed in the set, maintaining the intensity and warm interaction with the fans. The Americans seemed not to believe what they were witnessing. The chorus of “Ex's and Oh's” was so loud that they asked the fans to repeat it at the end of the song. After all this, they even apologized for taking so long to come to Brazil.
One of the highlights of the night was the moving tribute to Audioslave , with an acoustic version of "Like a Stone," demonstrating the band's respect for one of rock's greatest voices, Chris Cornell . Emotion filled the air, and the Carioca Club transformed into a giant karaoke bar. However, the show wasn't just about music: in a lighthearted moment, the band surprised everyone by inviting a fan on stage to sing "Happy Birthday" in Portuguese, celebrating the young woman's birthday and drawing warm applause from the audience.
The final act of Atreyu's show brings the audience to ecstasy.
The final stretch of the show was a true sequence of classics, with “Battle Drums,” “Falling Down,” and “The Crimson” bringing the audience to ecstasy. The climax came with a surprising improvisation: Travis started the traditional “Ole, ole, ole” on the guitar, and the crowd joined in. Finally, the whole band joined in the fun and started playing together, culminating in a unique interaction between band and audience. This spontaneous moment reinforced the wonderful atmosphere of the show and the chemistry between the group and the audience, making the performance even more memorable.
“Blow” brought the first part of the set to a spectacular close, before the highly anticipated encore with “Lip Gloss and Black,” a classic that ended the night perfectly. The audience sang along to every word, celebrating not only the music but the shared experience of an incredible night.
Atreyu left São Paulo with the feeling that, more than a band, they are a family that extends to all their fans. It was a night that proved their strength on stage and the loyalty of their Brazilian admirers. With a setlist that spanned various phases of their career, as well as emotional moments and unforgettable interactions, Atreyu delivered an incredible show and promised not to make the mistake of taking so long to return. All that remains is to wait!
