The vocalist was suffering from cancer
Asia founder and leader John Wetton passed away this morning, the 31st, after a long battle with cancer. Wetton was 67 years old.
Wetton was also a member of King Crimson, Uriah Heep, and Roxy Music, and has collaborated with various progressive rock musicians, such as Steve Howe of Yes and Steve Hackett of Genesis, in addition to his solo career.
The news of his death came via a brief post on Asia's official page, which read, "We regret to announce that iconic vocalist John Wetton passed away in his sleep this morning. Rest in peace, John 12/06/1949 – 31/01/2017."
