As I Lay Dying had been on hiatus since 2013.
The five members of As I Lay Dying released a 30-minute video where they talk about the band's return, which had been on hiatus since 2013 when vocalist Tim Lambesis was arrested and convicted of hiring a man to kill his ex-wife.
In the video, Lambesis talked about the steps he took to reconnect with his bandmates, explaining that he “first reached out to Jordan [Mancino, drummer] and Josh [Gilberto, bassist].” “And I sent an email to the others a long time ago, and the first conversations we had were mostly me listening, so I could better express my apologies.”
He added: “There are the obvious mistakes I made, and then there are the ways they spread and hurt people in ways I wasn’t fully aware of until I got home. And through the conversations I was able to better understand what they went through, and I think it’s more sincere to apologize for that.”
“I don’t defend what I did, because there’s no defense for it. I’m not going to try to defend what I did because it’s ridiculous. What I can do is make amends when possible, express my remorse, and put my energy into something positive.”
