According to information from The San Diego Union Tribune, Tim Lambesis, lead singer of As I Lay Dying , is being sued by a woman who claims to have been injured during a fire caused by the musician in December 2020.

Vivienne Barcena , who suffered second-degree burns, said she was injured when Lambesis spilled gasoline on a bonfire at her parents' house. At the time, the vocalist said the fire was accidental and that he ended up burning 25% of his body .

The lawsuit is being filed against Lambesis and his parents, since the house belonged to them. Lambesis reported to fans that he lost a lot of weight during the recovery process, as he had to stay in bed for about three weeks. Last month, the musician revealed that he had contracted COVID-19.

Tim Lambesis was arrested in 2014 after ordering the murder of his ex-wife . In May of that year, he was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty. Approximately two and a half years later, in December 2016, he was released. In June 2018, As I Lay Dying played their first show with the vocalist, after releasing a video explaining the group's return . In September 2019, the band released their seventh studio album, Shaped By Fire , through Nuclear Blast.

Despite acceptance from fans and the record label, some festivals canceled the group's participation in their lineup, condemning the musician's actions.
