As I Lay Dying announces new lineup with Brazilian guitarist.

The band also released “Echoes,” their first single since all but Tim Lambesis left the band last year.

As I Lay Dying released their new single “Echoes” this Wednesday, the 8th. This is the first track with the band's new lineup, since everyone except Tim Lambesis left the band last year.

Besides the only original member, Tim Lambesis , as vocalist, the new lineup features Brazilian guitarist Bill Hudson , Chris Clancy on bass, Don Vedda on guitar, and Tim Yeung on drums.

In a press release, Bill Hudson commented: “Tim L and I have known each other for almost 20 years and I’ve played in several bands with Tim Y. It’s an honor to be part of this new chapter of As I Lay Dying. What a great way to get together and play with so many friends of over 15 years at the same time!”

Regarding this new phase, Tim Lambesis added: “As the sole main songwriter on all As I Lay Dying albums, I will always find a way forward for this musical catalog that I am so passionate about. But sometimes things turn out even better than expected. I am incredibly grateful to my new bandmates. Besides being incredibly talented, they truly care about my well-being and the band we are now part of.”

Currently, the band is preparing for a European tour taking place in October and November of this year. Billed as "a night with As I Lay Dying," the tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of their third album, Shadows Are Security (2005). Over the past seven years, the Californian metalcore band has been embroiled in a series of controversies involving Tim Lambesis, their only original member.

Layoffs at As I Lay Dying

In October 2024, the band lost guitarist  Phil Sgrosso, drummer Nick Pierce , guitarist Ken Susi , and bassist Ryan Neff , leaving only vocalist and co-founder Tim Lambesis. This led the group to cancel their Latin American tour scheduled for March 2025.

Furthermore, vocalist Tim Lambesis has also had his name associated with multiple controversies, episodes of violence, and criminal charges. This includes an arrest in 2014 after allegedly ordering the murder of his ex-wife .

Sentenced to six years in prison in May of that year after pleading guilty, he was released approximately two and a half years later, in December 2016.

In June 2018, the band played their first show with the vocalist, after releasing a video explaining the group's return .
