The Russian melodic death metal band, Arcanum Sanctum , Ad Astra on the 28th of last month, their first since Veritas Odium Parit , from 2012.
In the album, the group's predominant theme is a focus on Soviet science fiction with a nostalgic atmosphere about the Golden Age of space exploration. The band members themselves were born and raised in that era, when space exploration was present in all aspects of their lives, such as popular books, films, cartoons, and soundtracks.
“With this album, we wanted to share a naive and romanticized image of the bright and heroic future that we discovered in our childhoods in the pages of Soviet science fiction books,” the band explains. “Unfortunately, we have observed that the 21st century has not become the Space Age predicted by science fiction authors. Our childhood dreams of exciting adventures in outer space have not come true. And it is to these shattered dreams that our album Ad Astra is dedicated!”
