During an appearance on The Wikimetal Happy Hour , Aquiles Priester revealed one of the dreams he still wants to fulfill: playing a song with Iron Maiden on Nicko McBrain .
In a conversation with Nando Machado , co-founder of Wikimetal , Aquiles spoke about the importance of Iron Maiden in his life and how similar his perspective as a fan is to that of Angra fans.
“My whole life has revolved around Iron Maiden's music,” says the drummer. “The album Somewhere In Time has a very special meaning for me. Just like a lot of people come up to me and say, 'Man, Rebirth changed my life,' ' Temple of Shadows is a work of art,' 'I've been listening to this album since it was released,' for me, this album is Somewhere In Time .”
Aquiles also pointed out that Iron Maiden's older albums were recorded during a more difficult time, as the recordings had to be done almost entirely live in the studio. "The albums were recorded in a single take, or the editing was done during a pause," he says. " Bruce Dickinson sang like that, and there was no autotune at all. So the guys deserve to have and be who they are."
In a motivational message, Aquiles Priester also mentioned the pressure some people currently put on themselves for fear that their work won't resemble that of the people they admire.
“I usually say this: the people we admire are people who don't think like us. If they thought like us, they wouldn't have done anything. So we admire people who do things differently from us because we wouldn't do them that way,” he reflects. Check out the full conversation.
