Aquiles Priester recalls the day his drum kit was stolen: "Fuck the Brazilian musician"

The musician was leaving an event in São Paulo when he was approached and lost his equipment.

During their appearance on The Wikimetal Happy Hour , Aquiles Priester and Nando Machado briefly commented on the price of a drum kit like the musician's – which, according to Priester, is equivalent to the value of an apartment or an imported car.

The drummer revealed that the last time he mentioned the exact value of his equipment, his drum kit was stolen as he was leaving a music event in Brazil. “It was stolen, and the management of Expomusic in São Paulo even had the nerve to tell me they weren't responsible because we were approached as we were leaving the parking lot. Long live the Brazilian musician,” he said ironically. “Fuck the Brazilian musician.”

Nando and Aquiles also discussed the importance of music in people's daily lives, especially during the pandemic, and the drummer told the story of a colleague who had all the cymbals from his drum set stolen inside the studio.

“A thief who steals from a musician deserves no forgiveness,” Aquiles comments. “Not to mention that we’re going through a pandemic where people aren’t working – musicians even less so – and then these guys steal someone’s instrument. It’s very sad.”
