Aquiles Priester is preparing to go on tour with WASP to celebrate the band's 40th anniversary, continuing a partnership that began in 2017 .
The Brazilian drummer recounted a request from Blackie Lawless during the audition for the position during an interview with The Wikimetal Happy Hour . “He came into the room and said, ‘Before I put this guitar case down, [answer me] if you think you’re capable of playing only what’s on the record, what’s in the song we made?’”, he recalled.
Priester initially gave an uncertain "I think so," but Lawless pressed the question, and the drummer assured him that he would follow the group's instructions. "Every band has the right drummer. I wouldn't be right for a lot of bands; I think the band's style determines what the drummer has to play," he explained. "When you have clear direction, it's the best way to work. You know how you have to work because you've been instructed. And if you want to play more, do it in your band, do it there."
