Apocalyptica has returned to its roots and decided to release its first instrumental album in 17 years. The work, titled Cell-0 , is being released through the Silver Lining Music label.

Cell-0 adopts the instrumental format that had been partially abandoned in Reflections (2003) – until then, the band's last album not to feature vocals on any track. In the following four works, the group brought in singers to work on their compositions.

The new album follows Shadowmaker , released in 2015. “It’s difficult to express yourself without lyrics, but in Cell-0 , we find particles of our universe that were previously unknown to us. Millions of notes are combined to create music, just as millions of cells are combined to create life. When you visualize it all, similar patterns appear,” says the group in promotional material.
