APNEA , Beyond City Limits , this Friday, the 8th . For this record, they made a point of working with a woman in the production, inviting Muriel Curi , who produced and mixed the four songs on the EP.

Drummer Maurício Boka talked about the songwriting process and working with Muriel Curi:

“We already had the four songs pretty much ready, as I mentioned before, so when we thought about making an EP, we wanted to record in a different studio with more comprehensive resources. We also looked for a producer. We thought a woman would have a different perspective and vision than we do about music, a different sensibility. When Muriel Curi's name came up, who runs the Dissenso studio, we had no doubt, and the result was wonderful.”

Beyond City Limits is the band's heaviest album, showcasing their evolution and establishing their identity on the national scene. With a sound influenced by 70s and 90s music, blending grunge, heavy metal, and stoner rock, APNEA built their sound with diverse influences.

“The sound is heavier and more 'rock-oriented' than on the album,” says Maurício Boka. “And the lyrics are quite subjective. They address themes such as the environment, class struggle, daily life, the city of Santos, etc., but in an indirect and somewhat psychedelic way. The quality of the production and compositions reflects a new moment, a step above.”

Beyond City Limits launch show will be at SESC Santos on August 27th. The show is free, with tickets available one hour before the performance. More information is available on the SESC Santos website .

The EP is available on vinyl at Peculio Records . Order it here.
