Anthrax has announced the release of a new bourbon called The Healer , in homage to the legendary Dimebag Darrell .
Speaking about the new product, drummer Charlie Benante explained the drink's name, revealing that Dimebag considered drinking a cure, hence the name, in remembrance of his bandmate. "The first time I heard Dimebag refer to drinking as a cure was when we were on tour together and I was very sick. He got on our bus, opened my curtain, gave me a shot of whiskey and said, 'drinking is the cure.'"
Guitarist Scott Ian added that during the tour, when they arrived hungover for soundcheck , Dimebag would show up with a shot of whiskey saying the same phrase. "And wouldn't you know it, it worked? It got us back on track," he said.
The Healer is a bourbon aged using the ancient Soleira technique, which involves rotating barrels to ensure uniformity in the beverage. In this process, the barrels are stacked, creating a cycle of rotation.
The beverage was produced by the American company Hillrock Estate Distillery , and only 360 bottles will be sold. The price is $140, approximately R$790, and it is available at this link.
This release marks Anthrax's third foray into the world of bourbon, following Indians , released in 2014, and The Devil You Know , from 2015.
