In an interview with Midwest Beatdown , guitarist Scott Ian Anthrax albums and hinted at what we can expect from the band's new album, which should have a "more aggressive" production.
During the conversation, Ian said he thought some of Anthrax's early albums had "hits and misses" in the mixing, but that the real highlights were the more recent ones, Worship Music (2011) and For All Kings (2016). "For me, that's where we found our sound," he commented.
Regarding what to expect from the next project, the guitarist said: “We have a foundation that we’re working on now with Jay Ruston that we know will sound good, and then we can refine it even further. Especially with the compositions we have now, forming what will eventually be the new Anthrax album, I think they call for a more aggressive production that we’ll have no problem achieving.”
Currently, Anthrax is focused on its 40th-anniversary tour, which couldn't be held at the exact time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band will likely take some time before they can fully focus on their new album, but Scott Ian assured in May that the project could be released "sometime next year."
