Scott Ian , guitarist for Anthrax , revealed in an interview with SYFY Wire that the band is working on a new album during quarantine with the help of "the magic of the internet."
The band has been preparing new material to follow up For All Kings for some time now, and fan anticipation is only growing, especially after drummer Charlie Benante revealed that the songs will be "a little more aggressive and furious."
“We had already started working on some things with the intention of finishing them in the spring of this year and then maybe going into the studio or having an album released at the end of the year or the beginning of 2012. But of course those plans have changed,” said Ian.
He continues: “We talked and worked a lot via Zoom and FaceTime, sending songs by email (…) But we all need to be in one room to work on the arrangements and play something at least 30 times to really understand and feel that 'okay, this is how the arrangement needs to be'.”
Scott Ian said the group already has plenty of material to test in the studio, but unfortunately, with the current situation, he doesn't know when that will be possible. Meanwhile, fans can enjoy the re-release of Persistence of Time on August 21st, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Click here to learn more.
