Anthrax: Next album will be “more extreme and angry”

"Because I think that's where I am in the world right now. Right now, I'm very angry about things that have happened," said the drummer

Charlie Benante said that the successor to For All Kings will be "more extreme" and "more angry".

Released in February 2016, For All Kings was considered by some critics to be the band's strongest album. The release came after a five-year period in which Anthrax experienced a sort of renaissance, beginning with the band's inclusion in the "Big Four" tour with Metallica , Slayer , and Megadeth .

Asked by Heavy if Anthrax had already started putting together their next album, the drummer said: “We have a lot of good ideas, but nothing has been recorded yet. I mean, I recorded demos – but they're just demos. Next year everything should start to take shape.”

Regarding the musical direction of the new material, Benante said: “I know that the next album will definitely be more extreme, angrier at times. Because I think that's where I am in the world right now. Right now, I'm very angry about things that have happened; at the same time, I'm very happy. So I think it's going to be a beautiful mix of anger and joy.”
