Menza has been nominated for a Grammy seven times
In a ceremony filled with controversy in the Heavy Metal section, this year's Grammy Awards left out drummer Nick Menza from the In Memoriam segment, which pays tribute to musicians who passed away during the past year. The video can be seen below.
Menza has been nominated for a Grammy seven times during his career with Megadeth. The drummer joined to record the legendary 1990 album "Rust In Peace" and remained with the band for 9 years, participating in the entire classic era on the albums "Countdown To Extinction" (1992), "Youthanasia" (1994), "Hidden Treasures" (1995) and "Cryptic Writings" (1997), as well as the 1994 Black Sabbath tribute album "Nativity In Black".
Menza passed away in June of last year, at the age of 51.
The 2017 Grammy Awards had two more missteps with Metal during the award ceremony for Megadeth and during Metallica's performance with Lady Gaga .
