Following her album of covers featuring classics by Audioslave and David Bowie , Ann Wilson , lead singer of Heart , released a dark video for her powerful cover of Alice in Chains .
The song was performed by the singer during the 2020 MoPop Founders Award ceremony at the Museum of Pop Culture, which honored Alice In Chains. The event also featured performances by artists such as Dave Navarro, Duff McKagan, Korn , and Nancy Wilson , guitarist for Heart.
“Rooster” is part of the album Dirt (1992), the second by Jerry Cantrell , and was released as a single to promote the project. In Ann's powerful version, the song takes on an even more reflective and somber atmosphere.
In 2021, Ann released the EP Howlen Live with four tracks taken from live performances by The Amazing Dawgs , the band that accompanies her in her solo career.
