Congratulations to WikiBrother Dary Ferreira who won Angra's latest CD, "Secret Garden"! Check out the winning answer:
Friday morning, a rainy day, the clock striking 11:30. Sitting in a worn desk in a classroom, I pay attention to the explanation given by the Chemistry teacher. The subject in question is the periodic table, that is, chemical elements everywhere. Suddenly, my friend approaches lightly and asks me:
— Dude, what is metal?
Instinctively I answer, immersed in the school environment.
— Wait, dude, there are several metals distributed there. There are alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, semi-metals… which one do you want to know more about??
With a push, he awakens me from that state of complete chemical immersion and, looking at me seriously, repeats the question.
— DUDE, WHAT IS METAL?? Metal music, dude, the style, I want to know about METAL MUSIC!!
…Emotions overflow in my mind. The metal question of my life was there, thrown into the air for me to catch and give him an adequate answer. I knew that the next few minutes could transform my friend's life. I rolled up my shirt sleeves and off we went!
— My dear friend. The first thing I'll tell you is: metal isn't just music, it's a lifestyle fused in its most epic form. This form began to take shape in the 70s with the sacred triad Sabbath-Led-Deep, and was further developed in the 80s with Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Metallica and other masters, coexisting in the 90s in the hands of other idols like Judas Priest, Megadeth and the like. It arrived in the new millennium still sustained by the strength of the names from previous decades, but with the emergence of new names like Mastodon, Slipknot and others, its strength and vigor continue to grow. Basic structure: you need guitars, bass, drums, clean or harsh vocals and striking lyrics. In its various forms, it travels from Prog to Speed, from Heavy to Folk, from Death to Symphonic. And don't think Brazil is lacking in this area: Angra, Sepultura, Almah, Korzus, Mindflow, Noturnall, and other names carry our flag forward. It's life, past, present, and future; simple, complex, and fantastic.
My friend listened attentively to everything and was interested in the information presented from the very first minute. In the end, we were removed from the room for inattention in Chemistry, but we gained, especially my friend, in good music, culture sculpted in the form of sounds. Later I will study Chemistry again, to the sound of good Metal, not the alkaline kind, but the eternal sound!
