Last Sunday (3), Tokio Marine Hall was the stage for the closing of Angra 's Temple of Shadows – 20th Anniversary Tour . The presentation featured the Argentinian band Azeroth as the first opening act. Next, it was VIPER , who took the opportunity to record their live album and moved the audience by paying tribute to Andre Matos and Pit Passarell with a beautiful performance of "The Spreading Soul".
The attention to visual detail in the presentation was noteworthy: the central screen displayed images illustrating each song performed, giving a special touch to each track. Videos depicting battles during the Crusades—the period in which the album's narrative takes place—further enhanced the immersive experience.
With the aim of presenting Temple of Shadows in its entirety, the band opened with "Spread Your Fire," which immediately captured the excitement of the audience, visibly energetic throughout the night — especially during tracks like "The Temple of Hate" and "The Shadow Hunter."
One of the most memorable moments was the performance of “No Pain for the Dead.” Singer Vanessa Moreno , who participated in two tracks on the group's most recent album Cycles of Pain , took to the stage to share vocals with Lione on one of the most emblematic songs from Temple of Shadows . To close the album's performance, Bittencourt's delicate fingerpicking—who also briefly lent his vocals—joined the voice of the “wizard” Lione in the touching rendition of “Late Redemption.”
Founding member of Angra, Rafael Bittencourt took the opportunity to thank the fans and clarify the much-discussed hiatus of the band, which, according to him, was planned so that each member could rest and dedicate themselves to their personal projects.
To the delight of fans, the show wasn't limited to the Temple of Shadows . Vanessa Moreno returned to the stage to sing the classic "Rebirth" in a breathtaking performance. This was followed by "Angels Cry," a version of "No More Tears" in tribute to Ozzy Osbourne , as well as "Carry On" and "Nova Era," which closed the night with great energy.
With an impeccable performance from each member, the final show of the Temple of Shadows – 20th Anniversary Tour was a reminder of the strength of Brazilian metal. Now, all that remains is to await Angra's return, after a well-deserved period of rest, so that its members can come back "reborn".
