Angra celebrated World Rock Day with a historic show last Sunday, the 13th, in downtown São Paulo, for about 10,000 people who gathered at the Viaduto do Chá.
The iconic Brazilian band, a reference in melodic and progressive metal, offered a free performance that transformed the urban space into a true open-air stage, vibrating with striking riffs, virtuoso solos, and the contagious energy of the audience.
For about an hour and ten minutes, Angra revisited emblematic moments of their career with a setlist that mixed classics and recent tracks. The night began with the powerful "Nothing to Say" and continued with "Millennium Sun," and both parts of "Tide of Changes." The audience vibrated to the famous "Spread Your Fire," "Angels and Demons," and "Waiting Silence." They also sang along to "Late Redemption" and were moved by "Rebirth" and "Angels Cry."
Angra concludes commemorative tour with a show in August.
The celebration also marked the beginning of the final leg of the Temple of Shadows 20th Anniversary Tour – Interlude: Final Lap , which will conclude on August 3rd at Tokio Marine Hall, also in São Paulo. This will be the band's last show before a previously announced hiatus.
The closing act will feature special appearances by Viper , a historic band of Brazilian heavy metal, and the Argentinian band Azeroth, a leading exponent of Latin American power metal. The show promises to be an epic farewell to one of the most important albums in Angra's career. Temple of Shadows will be performed in its entirety with new arrangements and an immersive audiovisual production.
Tickets are now available through Ticketmaster , and a full house is expected. This is the last opportunity to see the band live before their hiatus, in a show that combines technique, emotion, and history.
