"Carry On, Andre Matos!"

Last Saturday, the 8th, we lost Andre Matos , founder of the bands Viper, Angra, and Shaman, at the age of 47. The news was released through Shaman's Instagram, and shortly after, Angra confirmed the tragedy.

Now, the group has made another announcement saying that the show they were scheduled to perform on Saturday at Temple Music has been cancelled and a tribute will be held at the venue instead.

"Dear fans and friends: out of respect for the passing of Angra co-founder Andre Matos, we have decided to cancel tonight's performance. It would make no sense to go on stage to play while we mourn the loss of our companion on this journey, to whom we owe a great part of our history. Andre's legacy is intertwined with that of Angra, and therefore we will indeed go on stage at Templo Music tonight at 10 PM, but only to honor him and remember his importance in the history of each of us who live Heavy Metal every day. On this day, our instruments fall silent in mourning."

The show has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 28th, at the same venue, and those who wish to join us tonight are welcome to attend the show on the new date. Those who prefer a refund can request it through the same means of purchase.

On this sad day, we wish strength to the friends, family, bandmates, and fans of this icon of world metal. Carry On, Andre Matos!

Founded in 1991 by Andre Matos, Rafael Bittencourt , and André Linhares , Angra is still active today despite significant lineup changes. With nearly ten studio albums under their belt, Angra currently features Italian vocalist Fabio Lione, who joined in 2012 after the departure of Edu Falaschi , who replaced Matos in 2000.
