Bruno Valverde is the new drummer for Angra
Angra announced today the drummer who will replace Ricardo Confessori, who announced his departure last week. Bruno Valverde, from São Paulo and only 23 years old, will take over the drumming duties for Angra.
Valverde was recently invited to participate in a US tour with Kiko Loureiro's solo project and alongside Felipe Andreoli. His influences include Progressive Rock, Jazz Fusion, and Brazilian music.
Regarding his joining Angra, the drummer commented: “I’ve followed the band for years, I’m also influenced by Ricardo, and to take on this role today is surreal. Given Angra’s global importance, being chosen has truly made me very happy and honored! Basically, I’m going from fan to member. I know the magnitude of this responsibility, and I’m very eager to face the new challenges ahead.”
Angra continues promoting their CD and DVD Angels Cry 20th Anniversary Tour, which will visit several cities in Brazil and South America, still with Ricardo Confessori on drums. Following this, the band heads to Europe, where Bruno will make his debut as Angra's new drummer.
