Anette Olzon , former vocalist of Nightwish , has pursued a career as a metal singer since leaving the band, but has also decided to follow another vocation: nursing.
“I always wanted to help people and work with something that gave me meaning. I’m a registered nurse, so I started studying and got my degree. It took a few years,” she told CNN (via Blabbermouth) . “And I’ve been working with this for three years. I feel it’s a good complement – making music and another job. I believe it’s good for us to see other things. I’m working with newborn babies in the maternity ward, it’s a really cool job.”
After leaving Nightwish in 2012, Olzon formed the band The Dark Element alongside guitarist Jani Liimatainen , who was part of Sonata Arctica . The group has released two albums since then: The Dark Element (2017) and Songs The Night Sings (2019).
The singer also pursues a solo career and recently released the album Strong , on September 10, 2021, the successor to Shine (2014).
