Andy Summers , former guitarist of The Police , is bringing the tribute band Call The Police Brazil for four shows in March. In addition to Summers, the band also includes João Barone (Os Paralamas do Sucesso) and Rodrigo Santos (formerly of Barão Vermelho).
The group celebrates the legacy of the legendary The Police, one of the most important rock bands of all time. The trio begins their Brazilian tour this Thursday, March 2nd, at the Teatro Guaíra in Curitiba. Following that, the group will travel to São Paulo (March 3rd, at the Teatro Bradesco), Rio de Janeiro (March 4th, Qualistage), and Macaé (March 5th, at Lagoa Rock).
Guitarist Andy Summers was an original member of The Police and recorded all five studio albums with the band: Outlandos d'Amour (1978), Reggatta de Blanc (1979), Zenyattà Mondatta (1980), Ghost in the Machine (1981) and Synchronicity (1983).
Alongside him in Call The Police are two experienced musicians from the Brazilian music scene: drummer João Barone (Os Paralamas do Sucesso) and bassist Rodrigo Santos (formerly of Barão Vermelho). In 2017, Summers and Santos, who had already played together in several shows, invited Barone to join the band, and he was responsible for the idea of the name Call The Police.
“It’s a gift to be able to play and be friends with an idol from one of the greatest bands in history. And this guy is with us, having fun, enjoying himself, wanting to take us to various countries. He chose us to be the official group that will tour the planet playing The Police,” comments bassist Rodrigo Santos.
The setlist is packed with timeless hits like “Every Breath You Take”, “Synchronicity II”, “Message in a Bottle”, “So Lonely”, “Roxanne”, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, among other surprises that the trio is preparing for this upcoming tour.
