Andy Anderson recently revealed his battle with terminal cancer
Drummer Andy Anderson , who played with The Cure and Iggy Pop , died on Tuesday (27) at the age of 68.
Last week, he used Facebook to reveal that he had terminal cancer . “Hi everyone. I have stage 4 terminal cancer. And there’s no coming back from it. It’s completely covering the inside of my body. I’m totally fine and aware of my situation,” he wrote, stating that he would not be undergoing treatment.
The Cure founder Lol Tolhurst confirmed the news of Anderson's death. "Andy Anderson was a true gentleman and a great musician. He had a wonderful sense of humor which he maintained until the end of his life, a testament to his beautiful spirit on his final journey. We are blessed to have known him," he tweeted.
Anderson joined the band in 1983 after Tolhurst switched from drummer to keyboardist. He was involved in the album The Top . He also participated in the album Japanese Whispers , the singles "Love Cats" and "The Caterpillar".
