Guitarist denies possibility of a reunion of the band's classic lineup.

Andreas Kisser has once again denied the possibility of a reunion of Sepultura , saying that he "believes" in what the band is doing now.

The original lineup of the group split up in 1996 with the departure of former vocalist Max Cavalera , when the rest of the band fired his wife, Gloria, from her position as Sepultura's manager. His brother, drummer Igor Cavalera , remained for another 10 years before leaving and joining Max in Cavalera Conspiracy .

During a recent interview for The Metal Podcast, Kisser was asked if he was tired of answering questions about the Max Cavalera era in Sepultura. “It’s kind of an old topic. It’s been over 20 years [since he left the band].”

“I know people expect a reunion [of the classic lineup], because most bands do it — The Police, Anthrax, and Faith No More…” he continued. “But that doesn’t mean anything to us. Every band has a history, everyone has their own reasons. We believe in what we’re doing now.”

Kisser also commented on the fact that Max and Igor had denied permission to the producers of the band's documentary, Sepultura Endurance , to use songs from Sepultura's early career in the film. "It was very difficult to make the documentary because they didn't want to be a part of it ," he emphasized.

In 2017, Sepultura released their most recent album, Machine Messiah , through Nuclear Blast. The album was voted the best of the year by Wikimetal readers.
