In an interview with Rolling Stone, Andreas Kisser revealed details about inviting the Cavalera brothers to participate in Sepultura.

According to guitarist Andreas Kisser, drummer Iggor Cavalera declined the invitation to participate in the band's final show. The decision came after a direct conversation between the musicians.

“I called Iggor a few months ago. We had a fantastic and very cordial conversation. We talked about other things: family, football… it was really cool. Then, I made the invitation. He said: 'Dude, we don't feel like we belong here, we don't feel comfortable'. He gave his reasons for not wanting to be a part of it. Okay,” revealed Andreas.

Recently, Gloria Cavalera stated that Max Cavalera did not receive any invitation to participate in Sepultura. However, Andreas Kisser stated that there was a direct attempt to contact the former members.

“Through the businessmen, we also officially sent a contact there [to Max] and we also received a negative response. I don't know if it was directly from Gloria or the lawyer, but we went both ways: one direct way, where they said 'no', and another more bureaucratic way, where they also said 'no'. Whether it reached Gloria or not, I can't say. I can only tell you what we got in return. And it's all good. I think we should have extended the invitation. It would have been great if they had participated.”.

Sepultura will perform their second-to-last show at Rock in Rio

Sepultura is maintaining its plans to end its activities with a special show in São Paulo, although the date is yet to be confirmed. The farewell tour, Celebrating Life Through Death, which began in 2024, marks the end of more than four decades of history for one of the most influential heavy metal bands.

Recently, Sepultura announced that their show at Rock in Rio 2026 will be the penultimate of their career. The performance is scheduled for September 5th, on the Sunset Stage. Although it's their penultimate show, Sepultura has not yet officially confirmed the details of their final performance. However, there is anticipation that the last show will take place in São Paulo, possibly in a stadium and with special appearances by musicians who have been part of the group's history, as revealed by Kisser in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil.
