In an interview with Metal OBS, Andreas Kisser revealed his plans for after Sepultura ends its activities . The Brazilian band is currently on a farewell tour, scheduled to conclude this year.
According to the guitarist, music will remain central to his life. He made it clear that he doesn't intend to stop. “Of course I'm not going to stop making music. I have so many ideas, but I haven't decided where to go yet. I want to enjoy the moment, enjoy the tour, enjoy the last days of this year's tour. But I have many possibilities,” he revealed.
Andreas continued: “Maybe I’ll do another solo album or try something different. I want to explore different worlds. I’m turning more to the art world, like painting and mixing music with colors and things like that. And it’s interesting to try going to different places. I don’t want to find another world that’s the same as Sepultura’s. I’ve already done all that during Sepultura. So, I’d like to absorb more ideas and be aware of new possibilities and see what happens. But right now I’m very focused on what we’re doing today and the last few months of the tour” [transcription via Blabbermouth].
Despite the plans, the current focus is on the present. The priority is to close the Sepultura cycle in the best way possible, and he addressed the new EP.
“When we announced the farewell tour two years ago, almost three years ago, we announced that it would be open-ended. But, I mean, we know we're dying. Sepultura is ending. So, we're going to leave it open-ended to fulfill our last wishes. […] Why rush? I mean, there's no reason to announce [the final tour] and then, in a year, have to stop just because people think the farewell has to end at a certain point. And we left it open-ended because we live in the present. And the possibility of recording an album arose,” Andreas added.
Sepultura will perform their second-to-last show at Rock in Rio
Despite the refusal, Sepultura maintains its plans to end its activities with a special show in São Paulo, although the date is yet to be confirmed. The farewell tour, Celebrating Life Through Death, which began in 2024, marks the end of more than four decades of history for one of the most influential heavy metal bands.
Recently, Sepultura announced that their show at Rock in Rio 2026 will be the penultimate of their career. The performance is scheduled for September 5th, on the Sunset Stage. Although it's their penultimate show, Sepultura has not yet officially confirmed the details of their final performance. However, there is anticipation that the last show will take place in São Paulo, possibly in a stadium and with special appearances by musicians who have been part of the group's history, as revealed by Kisser in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil.
