Andreas Kisser , guitarist and leader of Sepultura , was asked about his opinion on the re-recordings of the band's early albums done by Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera in an interview with IMPACT Metal Channel .
Regarding the Cavalera brothers revisiting the albums Bestial Devastation (1985), Morbid Visions (1986) , and Schizophrenia (1987) , Kisser said that Max and Iggor's reinterpretation is unnecessary and disrespectful ( via Blabbermouth ):
"I don't think anything of it! I mean, it's a strange decision they made, and the artistic value is zero. Maybe they're after money or something more, but there's no reason to do something like that."
The guitarist cites The Troops of Doom , Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz , in relation to revisiting Sepultura's early days:
“I much prefer The Troops of Doom, Jairo's band, which is doing a spectacular tribute to that phase of the band, being very honest, making and composing something new… But, if they (the Cavalera brothers) are having fun, so be it. I don't care. I just think it's totally unnecessary. It's really very disrespectful to themselves and their own past.”
Kisser adds: “It’s weird to see a guy (Max Cavalera) who always says, ‘Oh, I did this,’ ‘I did that,’ ‘I’m so creative,’ ‘I did everything myself,’ and then do this bullshit of re-recording riffs that we composed 30, 40 years ago. The rhetoric doesn’t match the example.””
Will Sepultura release new music?
Asked about the possibility of Sepultura releasing new material even after their farewell tour, Andreas Kisser confirmed that the band is working on four new songs:
“Yes, we are working on new music with Greyson Nekrutman . We have incredible chemistry. He’s a fantastic musician, an amazing guy. We’re going to combine the new songs with the live album we’re recording at each show on this tour. The idea is to put together 40 songs in 40 different cities around the world, and there will be four more unreleased tracks with Greyson on drums.”
Regarding what fans can expect from the band's new music, the Sepultura frontman replied: "The unexpected. Wait and see. Who knows?"
