Legendary guitarist Andreas Kisser Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura , revealed details about the band's farewell tour, the Celebrating Life Through Death Tour , in an exclusive interview with Music Interview Corner
The tour, which has become a milestone in the group's history, is a celebration of 40 years of history and success on the world stage, which began in 1984, fulfilling the promise of being one of the most exciting for fans.
Andreas described the experience as "wonderful," taking the opportunity to comment that the band had been planning the tour for at least two years. He also spoke about the members' happiness at being able to bring together fans from various generations: "It's a celebration of Sepultura's 40th anniversary. It's great to see old-school and those who are watching us for the first time. We are living the best moment of our lives."
Originally intended to conclude activities in 2024, Kisser revealed in an interview that the farewell tour has been extended until 2026 .
The decision reflects the band's enthusiasm and the warm response from the public: "We're going to extend the tour even further, until 2026, we're not in a hurry... Sepultura has already been to many places, almost 80 countries, but there are still many places we haven't been to yet," he stated.
In addition to this announcement, fans can already expect another surprise from the band: a live album. The project will be a compilation of 40 songs recorded in 40 different cities, representing the most memorable moments experienced throughout the farewell tour.
“We’ve been recording all the shows since the beginning of the tour. Today’s technology allows us to do that, and the energy is incredible,” said Andreas.
The legacy of Sepultura
With over 40 years in the business, the band Sepultura has established itself as one of the biggest names in Brazilian and international heavy metal.
Formed in 1984 in the city of Belo Horizonte, the band stood out not only for its heavy sound, but also for its ability to innovate, mixing thrash and death metal with influences from Brazilian music. Sepultura has always explored political, social and cultural themes, achieving worldwide recognition with albums such as Arise (1991), Chaos AD (1993), and Roots (1996).
Despite being a farewell tour, the band members are keen to emphasize that it is primarily a celebration of their long and prosperous career, highlighting the importance of the musicians who have been part of the group, such as brothers Iggor Cavalera and Max Cavalera , who were key figures in the band's formation .
In its current lineup, featuring Andreas Kisser, Paulo Xisto , Derrick Green , and Greyson Nekrutman , the Brazilian band continues to demonstrate its strength and legacy, proving that Sepultura is more alive than ever, even as it approaches the end of an era.
