In an interview with Metal on Tap, guitarist Andreas Kisser revealed that he doesn't rule out the possibility of performing new shows with Sepultura in the future. The Brazilian band will end its activities this year with the conclusion of its farewell tour, Celebrating Life Through Death.
In the conversation, the musician responded to whether he would rule out a reunion with his bandmates a few years after the end of the tour. Kisser stated that it is "irrelevant" whether the end of activities will happen definitively or not.
“Man, I’m not ruling anything out. It’s irrelevant to say whether [the retirement] will be forever or if we’ll come back. The important thing is that we’re going to stop now. We need this break because we’ve organized everything around it and we need time to look in a different direction,” he explained [transcription via Blabbermouth].
Andreas Kisser also pointed out that Sepultura's name will never die and named great bands of the genre that returned to the stage after farewell tours. “The possibilities are always open. I don't think we have the energy to do eight farewell tours, but who knows? You see what happened with bands like Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, Mötley Crüe , and Slayer. It's very healthy to rest and step away from the scene for a while,” he concluded.
Andreas Kisser will "explore new paths" after the end of Sepultura
In an interview with Metal OBS, Andreas Kisser revealed his plans for after Sepultura ends its activities. The Brazilian band is currently on a farewell tour, scheduled to conclude this year.
According to the guitarist, music will remain central to his life. He made it clear that he doesn't intend to stop. “Of course I'm not going to stop making music. I have so many ideas, but I haven't decided where to go yet. I want to enjoy the moment, enjoy the tour, enjoy the last days of this year's tour. But I have many possibilities,” he revealed.
Andreas continued: “Maybe I’ll do another solo album or try something different. I want to explore different worlds. I’m turning more to the art world, like painting and mixing music with colors and things like that. And it’s interesting to try going to different places. I don’t want to find another world that’s the same as Sepultura’s. I’ve already done all that during Sepultura. So, I’d like to absorb more ideas and be aware of new possibilities and see what happens. But right now I’m very focused on what we’re doing today and the last few months of the tour” [transcription via Blabbermouth].
