In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone , Fabio Lione Andre Matos 's desire to do a reunion show with Angra .
The vocalist also spoke of missing his great friend and his wish to have performed a special show with Andre.
“ I was hoping that Andre could sing with me at some special show [like Bangers Open Air 2026 ]. I was the last guy from Angra to talk to him, two months before he passed away, during a guest appearance with Soulspell ,” he confessed.
“Andre told me he would agree to do a maximum of four shows with Angra, if they were reunited, and Kiko [ Loureiro , guitarist] would need to be there. But Kiko was still in Megadeth and it wasn't that easy. His idea was: Andre, Fabio, Kiko and the other members. I told Rafael [Bittencourt , guitarist] and Felipe [ Andreoli , bassist] about this possibility. There was a chance. Unfortunately, what happened, happened. Now, we're going to do this show at Bangers, which is really cool, but of course it's not what it could have been,” said Leoni.
Show at Bangers Open Air 2026
Fabio Leoni also revealed that the idea for the Bangers Open Air show format was his. The vocalist envisioned a tribute to the band's three phases: the eras of Andre Matos, Edu Falaschi , and Fabio Lione. "We'll have Alírio Netto , my dear friend, doing Andre Matos' part. It was me who suggested doing three phases of Angra with three vocalists," he confessed.
“ In our conversations, I brought up this idea, and the group thought it would work, and if there are three eras, we would need three vocalists. I know the show will be divided into three parts. The first will be the New Era [with Edu Falaschi and drummer Aquiles Priester ] lasting about 50 minutes to an hour. The second part, the same length, with me and Alírio singing songs from other phases. And, at the end, for about 20 minutes, everyone will be on stage to sing something together. I hope the audience enjoys it.”
Angra's historic show as the headliner of Bangers Open Air 2026 will take place on Sunday, April 26th. Tickets are on sale at Clube do Ingresso .
