The highly anticipated documentary Andre Matos – Maestro do Rock premiered in grand style this Tuesday, September 14th, in celebration of what would have been the 50th birthday of the Brazilian metal icon. Screened at the Theatro Municipal in São Paulo with tickets sold out in a few hours, the production was featured on Globo.
Bom Dia São Paulo program highlighted important places in the musician's life and career, featuring archival photos, scenes of Andre on stage, and excerpts from the musician's own testimonials that are part of the documentary.
“ Andre Matos , better known as the Maestro of Rock, was the vocalist for several bands, among the most famous being Viper , Angra , and Shaman . And one of his characteristics is the mix of classical music with heavy rock,” journalist Rodrigo Bocardi introduced the story.
The project, conceived and directed by Anderson Bellini, began in 2018 with Andre's own permission. After the musician's death from a heart attack at age 47, his family provided previously unseen materials and hundreds of other personal files so that the film could be completed.
The result was divided into four documentaries in chronological order, covering the entire life of the vocalist with testimonials from friends, colleagues, and family members, totaling more than 10 hours. Watch the full report here .
