“It is with great pride that, after much struggle, we have managed to make the first episode of the documentary available on the main digital rental and purchase platforms. I believe this is a great step for the project, because from now on the film can reach many more people, as these platforms are more easily accessible and known to the general public. We are very happy to premiere this precisely on September 14th, the day Andre would have turned 51,” highlighted Anderson Bellini.
The film 'Andre Matos – Maestro of Rock'
Featuring never-before-seen footage, including the artist's last interview months before his death, Andre Matos – Maestro do Rock traces the trajectory of the greatest Brazilian heavy metal vocalist, who became world-famous despite his aversion to fame. The documentary is divided into four episodes and will portray in detail the vocalist's entire career, addressing all moments – even the most controversial, such as the separation of Angra and Shaman – giving voice to everyone involved.
This first episode, now available on digital platforms, is 100 minutes long, with Spanish and English subtitles, and shows Andre's interest in music since childhood and talks about the formation of his first band, VIPER , in 1985. At the time, the members were all teenagers and Andre, the youngest, was only 14 years old – and their first album, Soldiers of Sunrise, was a watershed moment in the history of Brazilian heavy metal, which was just beginning.
Shortly after the release of their second album, Theatre of Fate , when the band was at its peak and enjoying international success, Andre left Viper to dedicate himself exclusively to the study of classical music – which completely changed the course of his life.
