After much controversy due to Regis Tadeu that Angra emerged as a boy band , Anderson Bellini , director of the documentary Andre Matos – Maestro do Rock disagreed with the critic's opinion .

Anderson participated in the Amplifica , hosted by Rafael Bittencourt , who has previously interviewed Regis Tadeu personally to discuss the points of the critic's statement regarding the formation of Angra.

In his appearance, the documentary director criticized Regis Tadeu and his comments about the good looks of the Angra members, arguing that at the time it was important for musicians to be good-looking, stating that "many good bands didn't make it because the guys didn't have long hair." He also refuted Regis's comment that vocalist Andre Matos left VIPER specifically to form Angra.

“I have a lot of respect for Regis Tadeu. I think he's a great critic. I subscribe to his channel. But he doesn't know anything about Angra's history!”, says Bellini. “It seems like Toninho [ Pirani ] picked up good-looking guys and all that, but it wasn't quite like that. Andre went more than a year without contact with heavy music. He cut his hair! That's the biggest proof. There was time between him leaving VIPER and the first photos with Angra. In the second part of the documentary, we talk about that first encounter.”

Rafael Bittencourt agreed with the director's argument and said that the criteria at the time went far beyond beauty when looking for new musicians:

“Everyone who's going to put together a band looks for people with musical and personal affinity. Back then, there was this thing about having to have long hair. Today, it's not necessary. The person has to have attitude. My view is that it was a confluence of two projects. I had been composing songs. I had already played 'Queen of the Night' with Kiko [ Loureiro ] in another band,” he clarified.
