Guns N' Roses is back. It may have been the most anticipated reunion in rock history, and it happened. But… what about Slash's solo career? While Mr. Axl Rose toured with his band, Slash built a very successful solo career.
Since leaving Guns N' Roses, Slash has been involved in several musical projects: Slash's Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, and… Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators! Or simply "Solo Career." After participating in three bands, and in all three having problems with their respective vocalists, Slash decided to start his so-called solo career alongside vocalist Myles Kennedy, leader of the metal band Alter Bridge. But didn't Slash end up forming another band? The project in partnership with Myles was so successful that it became something bigger than a solo career, where the spotlight would be on the main artist, Slash, but no, everyone shines in the band. Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators created its own identity, forming fans not only of Slash, but of the entire band.

Just like Guns N' Roses, "The Conspirators" is based on three members: Todd Kerns, bassist; Slash, guitarist; and Myles Kennedy, vocalist. And just like in Guns N' Roses, the bassist takes on lead vocals and sings some songs during the show. Perhaps this similarity between the bands is the reason for the success of this "solo" project. The project is already on its third studio album; the first was an album with several guest appearances, Myles wasn't yet the official vocalist, and the band didn't have its current members, but from the second album onwards, everything revolved around "The Conspirators." The band has also released two live DVDs.
With Slash's return to Guns N' Roses, his band with Myles and company will likely take a backseat, but honestly, I and every good Hard Rock fan hope that this project doesn't end or go on hiatus like the other bands the guitarist formed after Guns. It's a great project, with incredibly talented musicians, that can't be shut down.
