British band Anathema announced on social media an indefinite hiatus. The group explained that the separation is a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic and the difficulties arising from the situation.

“All of us – including you – have faced unforeseen challenges [this year] that have impacted our professional and personal lives,” the band wrote in the statement, “During this difficult time, the events of this year have left us no option but to take an indefinite hiatus. As individuals, it’s time for us to go our separate ways.”

The group also thanks the fans in the statement, saying they feel "love and respect for all the fans who gave us the best years of our lives," and announces the cancellation of the remaining tour dates. "We could never have predicted how this year would turn out," they write, concluding the statement.
