On a Thursday night, to a packed Cine Joia Amyl And The Sniffers played their first solo show in Brazil. The band consists of Australians Amy Taylor on vocals, Declan Mehrtens on guitar, Gus Romer on bass, and Bryce Wilson on drums. In addition to this show, the band is touring with The Offspring Punk Is Coming festival in various cities across the country.
The audience of all ages squeezed in to see what the group, which has even received praise from Liam Gallagher, had to show. The opening act was the band Klitoria from Niteroi. With their original mix of garage rock and punk, and mostly composed of women, they proved to be a perfect choice to warm up the audience for what was to come.

Before nine o'clock at night, Amy entered the stage with her Dolly Parton , of which the singer has declared herself a fan. With all this contagious energy, the audience began to mosh. But when they played "Doing in Me Head" and then "Security," the Cine Joia went wild. Amy talked to the audience, danced, and showed all the female power in punk. The whole band seemed to be having a lot of fun.
The setlist, despite featuring more songs from her latest album, Cartoon Darkness (2024), mixed in some tracks from her other albums, Amy And The Sniffers (2019) and Comfort to Me (2021). The song “Got You” was dedicated to women. The singer asked the audience to teach her swear words in Portuguese. Furthermore, she spoke about political issues, even using some insults directed at Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Putin.
Towards the end of the show, the band performed hits from their latest album, "Big Dreams" and "U Should Not Be Doing That." For the encore, Amy returned with songs from their first album, "Balaclava Lover Boogie," and "Facts."
Finally, everyone left with the feeling of having witnessed a historic show. The band, with nine years of experience, delivered a visceral and energetic performance. Amyl And The Sniffers made it clear why they are one of the most talked-about bands in modern punk.
