In a recent radio interview, Amy Lee talked about how she twisted her ankle "really badly" shortly before Evanescence went on tour with Halestorm .
The singer expressed her disappointment not only with the injury, but also with how it all happened, during a nature hike. "I hate going to the gym. I hate it. I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate it. And I need to find something that holds my attention, and music helps, but I finally found the right activity this time," she said.
“I always have to go through some kind of training before going back on tour to strengthen my body, and I found some beautiful trails in one of the parks near here. So I've been hiking in Percy Warner . And I like to take the alternate paths instead of the main trail, and it's super fun because I don't know how long it's going to last or when it's going to end, so I can't stop. I was listening to the setlist and getting excited and walking fast, and I tripped or stepped wrong in the middle of the woods, alone, and twisted my ankle. So, honestly, I've been depressed,” the singer recounts.
Evanescence's tour with Halestorm begins on November 5th, which should give Amy Lee time to rest and recover, but the artist expressed her frustration with how things turned out. “I was starting to feel good and suddenly it was, 'No, you're not okay.' I'm getting better, I'll get back into the routine. It's hard when you find something that finally makes you think, 'This is good for me. This is a healthy choice. I'm really enjoying it,' and then it doesn't work,” she lamented.
