Amy Lee revealed a special moment she shared with her son during the band's tour with Metallica. According to the singer, seeing her son discover heavy metal for the first time brought back memories of her own adolescence and when she fell in love with music.
In an interview with Loudwire, the Evanescence revealed that she took her 11-year-old son, Jack, to see the series of concerts in Australia and New Zealand alongside Metallica.
“They were incredible, very kind. You never know what it’s going to be like to enter someone else’s world. It’s their show and you have to totally respect that. It’s Metallica, so let’s respect that. But also, like, can we have a good production? What exactly can we do without being bothered and how kind will you be about it? And they ended up being very nice. They let me put our grand piano in the Snake Pit and I got to spend some time playing piano, surrounded by the crowd,” Amy revealed.
According to the singer, the most memorable moment happened during the performance of “Nothing Else Matters”: “I got to bring my son, who is now 11 years old — the perfect age to fall in love with metal. Him experiencing that in the stadium, with the rain starting to fall gently during 'Nothing Else Matters', and I could only see his reaction: 'That’s it'. It was very good for me and reminded me of when I was that age and falling in love with music.”
Evanescence has just released the album Sanctuary, the band's first studio album since The Bitter Truthin 2021. Next week, the band will begin an extensive tour of North America, the UK, and Europe, bringing together one of the strongest lineups in current alternative rock. The band, led by Amy Lee, will be joined by guests Spiritbox, Poppy, Nova Twins , and K. Flay.
