Amy Lee of Evanescence and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm are two rock voices who have been around for a while, but they have recently seen their work reach a milestone that, according to Hale, is unprecedented.

The tracks “Better Without You” and “Back From The Dead”, along with the single “Only Love Can Save Me Now” by The Pretty Reckless , simultaneously entered the Top 10 of the Rock Active Radio charts, marking the first time Hale has seen three female-fronted bands feature in the top 10 positions of this chart at the same time.

In an interview with Loudwire , Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale – who are currently on tour together – spoke about the challenges of being a woman in rock and the joy of reaching this milestone after so many years on the road. “Amy and I have been ecstatic over the last few years to see this genre that we love represented by so many women. I remember just a few years ago I used to be the only woman on tour,” says Hale.

“The fact that there are now so many of us dominating rock radio is a beautiful thing, and I feel it’s important to show younger girls that we can do it, so they shouldn’t give up if that’s what they want and if that’s part of their journey. Go for it,” Hale concludes.

Amy Lee completed her friend's comment by highlighting the extra effort they had to make as women in a predominantly male environment. "It takes a lot from us to get where I, Lzzy, and The Pretty Reckless have gotten. And it takes even more when you sound different and look different from most people around you," she commented.

Remembering some of the names that helped them at the beginning of their careers, Lzzy Hale mentioned Halestorm's first tour with Seether and Shinedown in 2006, while Amy Lee recalled that Evanescence was already playing at festivals due to the success of the album Fallen (2003), therefore acquiring a certain popularity right from the start.

“There are many big names who have been extremely kind to us and to me,” he says. “I received support from Motorhead , Lemmy has always been very sweet to me. And I have to mention Korn . They were very encouraging, they invited me backstage to say hi and be kind and validate me and support me.”
