Amon Amarth's last album was released in 2016

Swedish band Amon Amarth are composing the successor to their 2016 Jomsviking

In an interview with the Australian magazine Heavy, bassist Ted Lundström spoke about the work: “We’re halfway through writing the new album, and the material is incredible, so we’re really excited to get back into the studio as soon as possible. We’re always trying to take a step forward, but in the end, even when we say ‘Let’s do something really different,’ it’s still going to end up sounding like Amon Amarth. We’re always going to sound like that.”

Jomsviking debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200 chart, having sold 21,000 units in one week. The album was released by Metal Blade in North America and by Sony Music internationally. The first concept album in Amon Amarth's career was produced and mixed by Andy Sneap, who is currently the guitarist for Judas Priest.
